The Figure: Melissa Hin and Melisa Mutluisik (Painting and Drawing)
April 15th to April 28th
Melissa Hin - Sacrifice. This is real. Every day there are people who put their lives on the line so that we can live the life we live. What does that mean for them, and for the people who love them? This show is a study of the expressive nature of the human form with respect to exploring this issue.
Melisa Mutluisik - Some look at the figure and see just "people" or "human beings." They fail to see what these figures represent; not by what they might say verbally, but how they communicate their emotional status through the physical position of their bodies. Figures can be broken down into shapes; by gathering these formations, along with their private dance with shadows, art can structure outlets for expression, forms by which it seeks meaning in each individual pose. Each body provides an outlet by which to freely express what one cannot otherwise see. As an artist, I concentrate on what I believe to be very powerful parts of bodies. These parts enable me to create and communicate, so that others may appreciate my art.
Opening: Tuesday, April 15th 6-8pm
